Orbital Comics Presents: Batman (1989) at Genesis Cinema, 8th February

Here at Orbital we are beyond thrilled to announce our first curated film screening with the wonderful Genesis Cinema in Mile End, on Thursday 8th of February. Together we’re celebrating the convergence of comics and cinema, with a season of films drawn from comic books of all kinds. Superheroes! Indie stuff! Animé!

Given the current climate of the DC Comics movies, with their hyperserious grim & gritty tone, we thought a return to the Prince-soundtracked, Zany Goth Camp of Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman might be a rather welcome offering in 2018. Sad Ben Affleck can stay home, because we have Michael Keaton’s gorgeous, loving turn as Bruce Wayne instead!

Furthermore, cinephiles rejoice as this screening will be in devastatingly delicious 35mm. And of course, we’ll also be running one of our fabled pop-up shops at Genesis on the night!

UPDATE: In addition to a curated selection of Batman books and merch, we’ll also be selling limited edition prints of artist Thomas Gunning’s special movie poster commission. We wanted to produce something unique for our curated screenings, and Thomas’s loving work here has kicked us out the door with aplomb! Inspired by legendary movie poster artist Drew Struzan, this Batman poster will be available exclusively at our pop-up at Genesis on Thursday the 8th.
