Found it hard to get your head around the shocking second issue of Alan Moore’s Neonomicon? Think Moore’s lost the plot with his latest, and apparently last comic book series? Well fear not, eager comics reader, for here at Orbital HQ we’ve scoured the internet to bring you two fascinating essays analysing the makeup and meaning of the first two issues of Moore and Burrows’s Lovecraftian nightmare in comics form.

First we have Dave Smart’s video essay, which looks at issue #1 from a visual standpoint, and pays particular attention to the way Moore and Burrows arrange their panels in order to trap their increasingly self-aware characters in a prison made of comics.

And secondly, from the fantastic news and analysis website Comics Comics, comes comics critic extraordinaire Joe McCulloch’s fascinating ‘annocommentations’ on issue #2, which are an absolute must-read for anyone following the series.
