Marvel Now! Rundown by Liz

Starting in October, the Marvel Universe is rising from the ashes of the events of AvX with a brand new team of Avengers, a new roster of creative teams and spanking new #1 issues of your favourite big-name books!

Here’s what’s been happening:

First a slew of cancellations were announced, the idea being that all or most of them will be given a new creative team and a fresh starting point for new readers. The books to be cut were:

Captain America
Fantastic Four
Incredible Hulk
Invincible Iron Man
New Mutants
The Mighty Thor
Uncanny X-Men
X-Men Legacy

This week, promos have been surfacing thick and fast to announce the creative teams attached to the upcoming reboots. So far, a one-word teaser has been issued to identify the subject of each book. Here’s what we’ve got so far:

We’re clearly talking: Deadpool.

The big book to kick it all off has been revealed in Previews. Marvel Now! Point One #1 boasts a slew of big name writers and artists. At 64 pages, it’s going to be a pretty comprehensive introduction to the new status quo!

Another noteworthy change is that long-term Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis is departing all of his Avengers titles and moving over to the X-Men. He’ll be kicking off his show-running with ongoing All-New X-Men with artist Stuart Immonen.

Exciting news on the Avengers front is that the ongoing Uncanny Avengers will be helmed by Rick Remender and John Cassaday. Cover images suggest the new team is comprised of both Avengers and X-men, with Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, the Scarlet Witch, Rogue, and Havok.

Other confirmed ongoing series, minis and one-shots are:

A+X (ongoing, bi-monthly)
Jeph Loeb, Dan Slott (w), Dale Keown, Ron Garney & Tbd (a)

AVX: Consequences (5-issue mini)
Kieron Gillen (w), Tom Raney (a)

A-Babies V. X-Babies (one-shot)
Skottie Young (w) • Guruhiru (a)

Updates will be forthcoming- this is going to be huge!
