MICHAEL AND LAURA ALLRED INTERVIEW

Last Saturday we were very excited to host a signing with Michael and Laura Allred, the husband and wife team behind Madman, X-Statix, iZombie and much more.  Having spent nearly 3 hours signing books for their eager fans, the pair sat down with the Orbiting Pod crew to take a journey through their whole career, from the comics they read as kids to the unique process they use to create their spectacular artwork, the importance of David Lynch in the pair’s work and the status of the upcoming Madman movie.  This really is an unmissable interview for fans of the Allreds and fans of comics alike!

ANDERS NILSEN AND TOM GAULD IN COVERSATION

Last Wednesday the Orbital West Wing hosted a Comica conversation between Tom Gauld (The Gigantic Robot, The Guardian) and Anders Nilsen (Big Questions), two of the most exciting cartoonists working in comics today. DAN SLOTT INTERVIEW

Spider-Island has begun, but did you know it was originally going to be called Spider-Manhattan? That’s one of many ‘amazing’ things we found out when we interviewed Dan Slott after his signing at Orbital Comics last Saturday.

We also discussed his deceptive beginnings at Marvel, what it was like to work on all-ages books and licensed properties, as well as getting a glimpse into Slott’s plans for Spider-Man after Spider-Island.

You don’t want to miss this one, True Believer, as Chris and Taylor take on the mighty Dan Slott. And for those of you missing the regular picks of the week, never fear, they’ll be back next week as usual.

JACK KIRBY PANEL DISCUSSION

Last month Orbital’s West Wing housed an all-star panel discussion of the work of the one greatest cartoonists ever to live, Jack “the King” Kirby.

Particularly pertinent in light of the recent court decisions surrounding Kirby’s creations for Marvel Comics, the event was chaired by comics impresario Paul Gravett, who was joined by Charles Hatfield (The Kirby Collector), Jason Atomic (Hail to the King exhibition curator), David Hine (The Bulletproof Coffin,Detective Comics), Garry Leach (MarksmenMarvelman), Ed Hillyer, and Mike Lake.

We recorded the event for your listening pleasure, and here’s the result:
