CHARITY STREET ART EXHIBITION
31st July 2008 | 98 Leonard Street, Shoreditch, EC1V 9AY
Over 100 street artists from around the world have donated their work to the London based ‘Cancer Sell’ exhibition. The exhibition has been put together by street artist Kelly Grimble of Beautifully Urban to raise funds for Cancer Research and Florence Nightingale Hospice.
The exhibition will showcase work from new street artists, many exhibiting for the first time, alongside established names. As well as spray paint based art, artists have contributed photography, sculpture and vinyl for free. Cancer Sell has already received art by LET, Pure Evil, Copyright, Beautifully Urban, Matt Mignanelli, Rebecca Horwood, Jon Burgerman, Kriebel, Grafter, Rosie Emerson, Michael De Feo, Nonose, Prefab 77, Hutch and Maria Slovakova and has written confirmation that artists including Slinkachu, Snub, Farkfk, and Peripheral Media Projects are sending work.
All the work will be available for purchase and all proceeds will be donated to cancer charities or to a charity nominated by the artist. The exhibition runs for one day, 31st July 2008 at 98 Leonard Street, a disused shop in Shoreditch that will be transformed into a space for the exhibition. Cancer Sell hopes that the exhibition will give viewers a real taster of urban street art – passionate, gritty and intelligent…not mindless vandalism. Cancer Sell is working to include local businesses and has received prize donations from Paul Smith, Orbital Designer Toys, Veuve Clicquot, Mavala, Concrete Hermit, Expectations and Yes No Maybe!
